Dr. Holger Gellermann

Dr. med. Holger J. Gellermann: Principal Consultant / SME / Spain

Global Director of Coaching and Leadership

For over a decade I've focussed on individual and organizational development in the corporate and executive sector. Across the Global Medicine Organization of Boehringer Ingelheim (Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Marketing) and for people outside the pharma industry (police, IT, legal. and others) I’ve mentored individuals on how to lead and inspire their teams and divisions.

I coach and mentor with an eye to how our neurochemistry drives our decision making, our engagement and our choices. With over 16 years’ experience as a physician in the clinical sector (Board Certification), I help individuals understand themselves and their interactions in a more nuanced way. This has resulted in promotions and long-term career success for those I’ve worked with.

Diversity and inclusion are essential in the workplace. Within Boehringer Ingelheim, I established an LGBTQ+ network to both support individuals and drive large-scale initiatives. This focus on inclusion and diversity builds a culture in which everyone is valued in the workplace, as well as enabling the organization to achieve greater business results when we see the world from a wider set of perspectives.

I held senior executive roles in the pharmaceutical industry, beginning in virology, later in a matrix manager role within Corporate Medical Affairs. Until recently, I headed all medical departments as the Senior VP Medicine (Germany, Spain and in a regional role for eight countries).

I have more than 16 years clinical experience in Internal Medicine (Board Certification) and Infectious Diseases (Society Certification) in hospital and private practice, including founding a clinical study centre in Hamburg, Germany (ICH).

I am fluent in three languages and have studied four others. This skill enhances my ability to understand the world from another person’s perspective.
